Week 16

Today it's 15+0, 15 weeks have passed and week 16 has begun. Yesterday I felt the first movement. It was fun. Felt like something was poking from the inside a little. The baby is about 11cm long by now and weighs about 80g.

Care package from the Netherlands

Toine's parents sent a care package friday last week and it arrived here on wednesday. Sadly I was not at home so we had to wait until yesterday to pick it up at the postal office. The package was full of dutch candy and cookies. Dutch peanutbutter for Toine. Some butterfly decorations and 2 nice winter/christmas candles. And last but not least, lots of baby things!

Oh and we got the first snow of the year yesterday. Toine woke up in the morning and looked out the window. He groans "noooooo" and I wake up from pretty sleep. I ask him "whats the matter?". Toine answers "have you looked outside?"... I'm like "ehm...no...you just woke me up..." and I go back to sleep. Hehe.

Dinner and a movie

Went out for dinner and a movie yesterday. We saw The last airbender and it was quite good actually. Afterwards we went searching for a restaurant to eat at. We stumbled across the "Lucky Garden". An empty chinese/vietnamese restaurant. We figured what the hell, lets try it. It was a disappointment. I ordered something with duck, but the duck was way too dry. And Toine got nearly cold food. The ladiesroom smelled like rotten vegetables and the soap was a 40cm large Hello Kitty filled with diluted washing up liquid haha. Oh well. Atleast the movie was good!

Dietitian and physiotherapist

2 people I'm going to meet to help me with the pregnancy! The physiotherapist I'll see next week already but it's been hell to try and reach the dietitian. The only time to call and book an appointment is between 1pm and 2pm. The only problem is, I never get through! The line is always busy! Today I finally got through however, only to find out that the first free time they had was at the end of November! Oh well, all I could do was say thanks and accept the time I got.

Toine has been working late every day this week, but yesterday when he came home he had pretty flowers for me! I decided to book tickets to the cinema this weekend, and we are going to se "The last airbender". It looks like a good movie!

Little gifts

Toine's mother and father are making a frame with baby clothes in it. The clothes have apparently been treated with something so that when they dry they become hard. Toine's mother is then going to paint on it and bring it with when they come to visit in November!

It becomes like a painting and I think I will hang it up in the bedroom at first.

Week 13

First trimester is over. Second trimester has started! I don't eat much anymore. For some reason it feels like my stomach gets full after just half a portion. Oh well I guess it's a good thing! The pain from my pelvis persists and I'm going to see a physiotherapist about it next week.

We were at a dinner party last Sunday with all my relatives. My parents grilled the salmon that my uncle Pekka caught in Norway this summer. They also made creamed potatoes with feta cheese in it. Grandmother had some cheeses with her. Uncle Tommi and his wife brought a yummy salad with olives and feta cheese as well, and wine. Uncle Jussi and his wife had apple pie with for dessert. Toine and I made 3 different sauces to eat with the fish. The lemon sauce was a disaster however. It was the first time I ever tried that recipe and I'm sure as hell now gonna use it again!. And last but not least uncle Tappi brought alcohol free cider that was yummy.

Toine's mother has made a care package for us that she is gonna send. It's apparently full of baby things and I'm a little curious!

Week 11

Approaching the "magic border". It is said that after the end of week 12 the risk of miscarriage is super small. All the organs are finished by now, so the only risk left is the placenta not functioning properly. Anyway, the little one should be around 5cm now and growing like crazy.

I had my sign-up at the maternity care center last week. Had some blood tests done and blood pressure and so on. The midwife asked a lot of questions about hereditary illnesses and our social situation and many many things. Blood pressure was fine (115/70), a little bit low for being me but it's just good, and my hemoglobin level was definitely fine (143 g/L). I used to be a blood donor so I know my levels are always over 140 hehe.

Now for something else. I went mushroom picking with my mom earlier this week and we found a very good amount of black trumpet mushrooms yay! Yummy Yummy!

Last Thursday I bought some Christmas presents for my sisters and for Toine's parents in the Netherlands! I also bought new plates for ourselves!

Tomorrow Toine and I, plus my mother and perhaps my little sister Elin, are going to a big market and I hope to find many fun things to buy, look at, and possibly eat haha.
